Are you looking to adopt?
What are Life for Kids’ eligibility requirements? Life for Kids is looking for couples who are committed Christians, active in the same pro-life, evangelical Christian church, who have healthy marriages, are financially stable, and who wish to add to their family through adoption. There is no age limit, however, the younger spouse must be at least 25 years of age. Couples should be married a minimum of 3 years and reside in Florida. No infertility problem is required and there is no limit on the number of children already in the home.

Adoption Orientation Meetings
A free initial adoption consultation is held at our office, by appointment. This is the first step in our adoption process for prospective adoptive families. This information meeting covers a range of adoption related topics that will help you understand adoption and how adoption works at Life for Kids.

The Home Assessment
The Home Assessment is a legal requirement for all adoptive couples that includes a formal application process, a series of interviews, book reports, background screenings, health assessments and references. Your adoption caseworker will also help you put together your Adoption Profile. This profile is what birth mothers will review when selecting a family. It will include a resume on your family, photos, and a letter that you compose.

Matching and Pre-placement Meetings
The way adoption happens today is very different from the adoption practices of the past. It is the birth mother who selects the adoptive family that will raise her child. She usually wants to meet with the family prior to the birth of the baby and desires some form of ongoing communication. Openness is adoption can range from yearly photos sent through the agency to completely open contact with all parties exchanging names, addresses, phone numbers, and they have ongoing visits. Your adoption caseworker will guide you in this process.

What are “special needs” adoptions?
The term “special needs” in adoption refers to children who are deemed by the state of Florida to have special placement needs. These are children with certain medical needs or disabilities, sibling groups, older children, or healthy black and bi-racial infants.

Does Life for Kids only do infant adoptions?
Life for Kids has provided adoption support services in the adoptions of older children, children in state foster care and international adoption. Please contact us for additional information.
